It’s probably legal somewhere to make “hamburgays”. What consenting adults do in bed is nobody else’s business.

And who people choose to marry is their own business too!

Sure gays want “special” privileges…. the same special privileges already enjoyed by millions of married straight couples:including lower taxes…mutual custody rights…hospital visitation rights… and collecting on each other’s social security when they age…along with a statistical tendency to live longer, be happier, and earn more, than the unmarried.

Same reasons many older straight couples marry…. they’re not gonna have kids either, but I don’t see any demonstrations about that!

Wonderful idea, easy to implement too. Unfortunately not everyone would agree.

Absolutely! Most people who whine about defending the ‘sanctity’ of marriage forget (or were ignorant of) the fact that marriage is a civil contract, sometimes in addition to a religious ritual. In my state (and probably most states) the Pope couldn’t legally marry anyone because a state license is required for the person performing the marriage in addition to the marriage license.

Jane, just as I was certain you were self-centered and ego-consumed, you say this. Or did Paige order you to say it?

This just proves that a comic can be changed without a six week notice. Keep those chicken sandwiches coming.

I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know what all the news of Chick-Fix-A was about until I read this strip. (Well, really, how could you take anything with a name like that seriously.) Thanks for the wake-up call, Paige. I think it’s time I got a little more involved.

Gweedo, you’ve only just begun. Just carry on as you are and in the words of The Incredible String Band, “Let the long time Sun shine upon you, all love surround you and the pure light within you guide your way on.” There I told you I was an ageing hippy, didn’t I?.I might be a Jain in my next life – or maybe I already have been.

A cow can live quite well eating only grass and other vegetation that gets in the way. Humans, in general, have decided that we will eat that cow that ate that grass. I know that if we were to eat only vegetables we would need less food than what it takes to feed the cows that go to feed us..Badly phrased, i know; but as a meat eater, I would prefer not to be, if only I knew how to do it properly. I once knew a woman in her 80s who had been a vegetarian all her life and was perfectly healthy and certainly not pale, thin and tired as most carnivores would have us believe.

I agree with Dr. Toon and Alasko — get the state OUT of religion; get religion OUT of the state!

The constitution says they’re separate…. so why do we let anybody’s church or religious beliefs determine whose social security benefits someone can draw, whose children he or she can adopt, and even where a couple has to live, if they are of the same sex, in order to have those rights?

It’s insane — and I’m a straight single female, so this is not self-interest speaking.

Some people act as though sharing their rights and privileges diminishes them…and I don’t get it.

If it becomes so universal it’s taken for granted that EVERYONE can chose a partner and have certain benefits, it’s LESS likely your own right will ever be denied.

Love, kindness, respect, human decency, freedom…. along with wildflower seeds and catchy tunes :) …. all are examples of things that grow and flourish by being spread, not hoarded.

And BTW, Gweedo… no, it doesn’t mean you’ll pop off any time soon, as long as you behave yourself! LOL

I’m talking statistics, that’s all…and I’m single and older than you, and not dead yet!

I’m also an aging hippie — and an unregenerate meat eater…but I quit eating at Chick-Fil-A long ago, when I found proselytizing religious literature in my bag.

I don’t happen to be a Christian OR an atheist…. but I have loved, DO love, both, and I respect their choices.

In fact I respect anybody’s tradition or beliefs, as long as they don’t impinge on anyone else’s…. or on their lives.I found those pamphlets inappropriate and offensive.

The gay community protests Chick Fil A and business booms. A better way of addressing the problem would seem to be in order.

    @HectorPriam

First, protected classes protect the majority as much as the minority. One cannot be fired for being older or younger, one cannot be fired for being male or female, one cannot be fire because of the color of skin (even if the color is white), etc.

Second, being in a union is not a protected class. Being part of a union affords the person the protections as set forth in the contract between the employer and the union. That is where the protection arises not from being a protected class.

Third, sexual orientation is not a protected class in most places and where it is it protects heterosexuals as much as gay folks.

Therefore, young, healthy, non-union, heterosexual, white protestants have the same protections as everyone else in his/her area. However, he/she does not have the same protection as a member of a union because he/she does not belong to one (unless one lives in a right to work state which means if he/she works at a union job, he/sh receives the same protection but does not pay dues into the union. Therefore, he/she gets his/her protection paid for by his/her co-workers who belong to the union). Also, if the area where he/she works does not have protection against discrimination based upon sexaul orientation, he/she can be fired for being heterosexual just like his/her counterpart could be fired for being gay. However, the likelihood of someone being fired for being heterosexual is slim to none whereas the same cannot be said for being gay.

I am neither pathetically uninformed nor ignorant and you calling me such shows a lot about your character. Further, it shows a lot about your stance. You have no rebuttal to what I said but to put me down and state that I live in a dream world.
