I have seen brown, black and grizzly bears. In 1959 I had a brown bear chase me into our cabin in Yellowstone. Two weeks later a bear dragged a little girl into the woods and park officials took notice, placing a ban on tourists feeding them.
Clearly they got where they were going. She was nagging for nothing.
Also, no, but many a raccoon. Which I would say I have a phobia aboutf but a phobia is defined as an irrational fear and there’s nothing irrational about being afraid of raccoons.
Yes – face to face while on a walk in the bush – about 10’ apart. We both survived the encounter – but it took me a long time to get my breath back after the run.

Not yet. Black bears are roaming around southern Mo. so it’s only a matter of time. Just ask the armadillos and mountain lions.
