Wow… is this strip dated. Today dad would leave the New York Times around and Calvin would demand everything free for ever and ever as a sense of entitlement.
Amazing! 20 years since this strip and we still are dealing with the same economic problems. No balanced budget. Government spending more than they take collect, printing more money, driving inflation higher. No energy policy. Our house and senate leaders are worthless. Just imagine another 20 years of this behavior. Throw the bums out!
Corporate America along with the White House or am I missing the point of BILLIONS in stimulus spending. BTW, has the White House staff gotten caught up on paying their income tax?
I hate it that the “job creators” blame their lack of creating jobs on consumers, meanwhile withholding loans to businesses and giving themselves golden parachutes. If job creators were doing their job, unemployment would not be an issue. Ignorant rant done.
I don’t know what year of the WSJ Calvin has been reading. These days the paper is considerably to the left in its political orientation, and the word “profit” is considered obscene as is its definition.

Man now I know where leaders of world economys got the idea of spending to prosperity. They researched Calvin and Hobbes cartoons

In today’s economy, A few pairs of spare underwear isn’t such a bad idea. You just might need them.

It is important to show that eternal growth is impossible in our small world. So practice abstinence.

Hey? Does anyone have an approximate year this particular Calvin was penned? It’s bringing back memories from the early 1970s – I think…

And while you’re at it, make sure the gifts were made in America, and/or produced locally.

I see Calvin believes in the “trickle down” Theory.

It amazes me how accurate and up to date the world is with this strip. Either Bill Waterson is a futurist or the world has not changed.

Looks like economists STILL are giving bad advice. Maybe we should do like the Federal Reserve does and xerox $20 bills to pay for Christmas.

I’m pretty sure this particular strip is almost 20 years old, it’s amazing how well the joke holds up today.

Calvin’s Dad has to be a job-creator. Being Calvin’s Dad isn’t stressful enough.
