Secretary: Mr. Thornapple has called in sick.
Mr. Veeblefester: HUMPH!
Secretary: You don't think he'd fib about that, do you?
Mr. Veeblefester: Perhaps not...
Mr. Veeblefester: But have you ever noticed how often he calls in sick on Fridays?

My dad taught me early, never call in sick on Friday, never call in sick on Monday,
it will only raise suspicion. Better to be sick and employed than just sick.
My advice, schedule your sick days in the middle of the week.

I love my employer, calling in sick is a voicemail system where you do not have to talk to anyone. Nobody asks any questions and it does not matter if you were sick or not. However if you do not have time off to cover your sick days you will get fired after 21 hours in a calendar year of ‘no pay’
We actually have the opposite problem here, people use all their time when they aren’t sick then come to work sick and infect everyone else around them.

It’s a sad, sad commentary on the work ethic of our nation that approximately 40% of sick days occur on Fridays or Mondays. Clearly an abuse of the system.
