@Eldo, in the UK it historically depended on the time you had your “dinner”
Tea as an evening meal was between 5-7 in the evening, and consisted of more than just “Tea”
Supper had two different connotations (sp?), it could either mean a late evening snack (after dinner), or an informal dinner – while “Dinner” was always meant to be either the main evening meal or a more formal meal – at the dining table, with the good china and wine etc..
To me, tea is at 4pm with cakes; dinner is my main evening meal and supper would be a snack before bedtime. “Tea” can also be interchanged to mean “dinner”, depending on what “stratum of society” one grew up in. The usage varies with region as well. My meals are: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner but I am overweight.
Squashed Antartica sic would fit right in with other great British dishes such as Spotted Dick, Bangers and Mash, Mushy Peas. Toad in the Hole, Faggots, Bubble and Squeak, Neeps and Tatties, Gentlemen’s Relish and Eton Mess.
…anybody else having trouble seeing the strip? I can see all the comments, but I can’t see any of the strips on gocomics – not today’s, not yesterday’s, none…
@SandfanIn your round-up of those (to the ears of a colonist) weird-sounding British dishes, you left out my own personal favorite: Monty Python’s “Crunch Frog.”@FanolioI’ve always wondered how many Yorkshire terriers it takes to make Yorkshire pudding?
Frisky Friday Hugs ((((((( Cappers! )))))))Juneau tomorrow then Homer the next day. I cant wait to get to Homer, the home of the Deadliest Catch crew. Hopefully I will get to meet/see some of them or any of them for that matter. I dont watch much T.V. but I never miss that show (or Dancing with the Stars, Axe Men, and Ice Road Truckers ) anything else on T.V., you would have to talk to someone else about because I dont / havent seen it….I have no idea who Snooki is nor do I care….lol…Take care of yourselves and have a fantastic weekend all!Hope Gweedo’s trip is going as well as my own vacation is!
As far as Andy confusing north and south, the other day I bought some mustard that was supposed to be HOT (I love spicy foods.) It’s called “Arizona Heat.” Problem was, it tasted more like North Dakota Cold……..

Just toss some bread on a plate and soak it with whiskey and call it pudding, Flo. Andy will never know the difference.

@afficionadoThe last I looked, Alaska was attached to Canada. It’s very close to the Arctic but not in it.

Isn’t Antarctica the Souse Pole? Far from Alaska, but lends itself nicely to an Andean pun.

Flo would be sitting in bed thinking of a cup of tea but that’s all some people have for breakfast.
