A few Americans often make the rest of us look very rude. Many years ago a tour guide on a trip to Greece had to remind the group that when seeing a price tag in Drachmas not to ask “how much is that in REAL money?” The sad thing is that she knew someone in the group was likely to not even understand the concept.

The World doesn’t think in terms of americans and others, or anything else.Whatever you could think, you’re just another person, no less, no more. We don’t really care for where you come from of who you are, just for how you personally interact with others.I never met anybody asking beforehand “where’re you from?”That comes with any other details later in the process, and is of no real value, just background info.We don’t always like your POLITICS, but since your leaders are usually barely elected by 50% of voters, that makes you probably innocent of the deed.

No, we were targets of terrorists, Canadians weren’t. Foreign people love US citizens – as long as we are spending money and buying thing – otherwise, ignor.

Again we’re confusing USA policies and american people. Belgium has also been, and will be again, target of terrorists. Yet the country is insignificant. Terrorism is universal and hates everything. It’s not a specific country problem. Radicals and haters everywhere go for the power and the money. Next it will be China and India. This is all unrelated to citizens. A tourist is a bag of money wherever he/she comes from. Welcome. Give. Enjoy.

    @Fourcrows

w did irreparable damage to perceptions of us abroad. We have a good and decent man in there now who has done much to improve this country’s image, but he’s had all the damage he inherited to deal with.Amazing he’s been able to do all that he has done, considering the disaster he walked in to, and has taken the heat for. He’s had 2 wars to pay for, with tabs for same running into the trillions.Too bad that money couldn’t have been spent on living, rather than for dying, and the enrichment of Wall Street and the defense industry.

Many here are still so backward as to have nothing more against him than the color of his skin.Don’t think this doesn’t get noticed by people in other countries, whose skin might not be white, either.

Suggest a shirt emblazoned with the logo of the Montreal Canadiens. They’re civilised enough to at least have enacted a good healthcare system up there. Not quite so opposed to socialist ideas, either, putting them miles ahead of us here.Check Webster’s Dictionary on socialism, and then consider how closely the definition fits the teachings of a certain Nazarene, whom so many “profess” to follow while condemning socialism.

…….“whose skin might not be white, either.”……Not to mention people in other countries whose skin IS white.Indicative or ignorant thinking. And noticed by those others.

you know, plaid shirts, blue jeans…..sort of what mittens wears when he is campaigning amongst the common rabble who will look upon his garb and say to one another “look! he’s just like us!”at least that is the strategy………

There are some countries where they like Americans, but they do compare themselves to us, whether positively or negatively. Anytime I go to another country, I try hard to be on my best behavior since I am somewhat of an ambassador (on a very small level).

as daniel_bel said. I am sure that people don’t like Americans b/c they are Americans but rather b/c of how the person acts. By saying everyone hates Americans b/c we’re Americans, you are profiling yourself. Profiling is a rude act. The attitude that people hate you b/c of your contry is another rude act. It is drawing a stereotype. Besides, that attitude may have been the norm in the dark ages, but we have all pretty much evolved since then….

Thanks for you post to me. Wish to post some corrections.

Webster’s on-line version only gives a brief description of the words mentioned. True definition is found in book form:

Socialism-“A theory of social organisation aiming at COOPERATIVE action, and community of property”.Direct opposite of reep “you’re on your own”.

( The Nazarene?) Sound like the words he uttered?

Liberal-" Generously ample, profuse, favorable to progress, not too literal , free"…..

Conservative- “Preservative, adhering to existing institutions”….In other words,,resistant to progress, and the EVOLUTION of the human species. reeps exactly. No future progress, only clinging to the ways of the past, now long discredited.

Personally choose the way of the Nazarene, and other great spiritual leaders who gave- “We are our brother’s keeper.”.

Not “you’re on your own”, but instead, “we’re all in this together”. Dems exactly.

None of us lives in complete isolation from our brother. Not “I built that”, but “it takes a village”. The Nazarene exactly.
