Bev and Briatolah — I don’t think that’s Agnes…this is the Gentleman’s Aeronautic Society.
I mean, it does look rather like poor Agnes…. but take another look at that schnoz.
I think that’s her (obviously fraternal) twin brother Algernon, enjoying a chance to show off his legs in a short, toga-like costume… a Romanesque version of Icarus. With, of course, his own design for a paper airplane hat and chicken-feather collar.(Right, right…. chickens can’t fly….but it’s the best he can do….he still has scars from trying to get feathers from that $#@! hawk last October.)You could ask x_Tech … he seems to be a member.I can’t wait to see them all dressed up on Wednesday…
Oh … and Bev…. I saved a pic of the tomato-stealing dog…. How does one get him placed on an official Most Wanted poster?
Where’s the Sheriff, anyway?
Meanwhile it’s a pretty quiet night here….I just got back to town.
Did my usual very-early-Sunday-morning walk down the closed street from the late-Saturday-night end of the bus line, and I was planning to stow my luggage and walk over to the Tiki or Red’s or Storm’s and see who’s about…but I’m sleepy and I have a long day tomorrow…so goodnight for now, Ballard Street…I hear lots of snores drifting from the open windows….sweet dreams.
Yes. You should see Algernon’s entrance on Sunday mornings…The paper carried at port-of-arms then with a graceful Pirouette bringing it to the On-Guard posistion he quickly peels out each section and unerring flings them to the other members. (Retaining the comics for himself the bas#%&**)
Mornin’ IMudd. Hope your day is going well. All seems peaceful and quiet here on Ballard Street today but… it’s not yet noon and many residents are still on the recovery pad… so stay tuned.
I think we had a long week…. Parties and public events, visiting dignitaries, more parties, performing animals, lost children… and too many daiquiris and margaritas marking a historic occasion..
Everybody is sleeping in, or napping in the afternoon.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Monkey sleeps all day, after the pace he’s been keeping!
As for me, I have to leave town (briefly) …. almost time to hit the road…A couple of messages first:
Bev — did you get that call?Happy trails, if you did!I’m excited for you!
Stel, hope you’re doing well….Marg too if you read this.
Thank you Red — I was way too tired, though.
And X…. I am waaaaaaaay out of qualification for judging “weird.”
I don’t even think “weird” appears in the Ballard school district approved dictionaries… They don’t want the children learning mental slurs and other discriminatory language.
I would call your club…. hmmm… charmingly off-kilter.
In fact, you may not know that I wrote the slogan on your membership cards and parade banner:“Now you’re flying with G.A.S.!”
Rumor has it that Sheriff Monkeyblues has G.A.S and B.U.R.P.S. memberships (Ballard University Recreational Pondering Society, formerly known as the Ballard Thinking Cappers — Thad Thakeray, president).
How politically astute of the Sheriff! Fraternal Organizations have historically included the major movers and shakers of a community, and Ballard County has no shortage of movers and shakers, tremblers and stretchers, acro bats and contortionists…
Hi, Bev !Remember how you agreed that we should honor BatPug? Well, I was going through some Ballard Bugles from the past week, and came across this photo on page 4 of Wednesday’s edition, and it just reminded me of how he should really be commended. You’re so good at organizing these things (although I certainly realize that you may not have the time to do anything but grab your suitcases to go meet the newest member of your family!!!! ) that, if you do have a few moments, maybe we could think about having a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, during which we could have a little ceremony to honor BatPug’s heroism.
At least the nights are finally cooler. In the evening I like to sit on my porch, smoking my pipe and listening to the crickets. There is a “visitor” cat I call Pinto because of his markings. He’ll climb up on my lap for lovey rubs and despite my allergy I don’t begrudge him. In moments like this, all feels right with the world.
This afternoon I took a nice bike ride out along the river and around the pond. Leaves are starting to change. I hope there will be a section of Heaven that has Autumn weather.
