I once noted that a lady walking by was very pretty. A Pakistani fellow sitting at the table with me informed she was considered quite plain back in Pakistan. -I let him know I was glad she had enough sense to go to a country which could appreciate her beauty.-Beauty should never be called “plain” even if it is common.-One thing is certain, Agnes is not common, nor are six toed girls.

While in Spanish class about 12 years ago, we had a Spanish magazine we were looking at. On the front was a handsome looking man. The girls in the class were admiring his looks. I looked down and asked, “Does anyone else notice that this guy has six toes?”

There was some shock after that.

Not all of us are impressed whatever the current standards of totally-cool-looking are. Some people prefer folks who are intelligent, witty, and generally fun to be with; looks and number of toes are irrelevant. I once quoted Shakespeare to a lady of my acquaintance:

My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun;Coral is far more red than her lips’ red;If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.I have seen roses damasked, red and white,But no such roses see I in her cheeks; And in some perfumes is there more delightThan in the breath that from my mistress reeks.I love to hear her speak, yet well I knowThat music hath a far more pleasing sound;I grant I never saw a goddess go;My mistress when she walks treads on the ground. And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare As any she belied with false compare.
