Southerners wave at everyone. Driving, passing motorists wave at my car all the time when they should be watching at the road. Don’t know anyone here. LOL Guess they were never taught not to speak to strangers….
I have to agree that Southerners are just being friendly. I’m from the North and in my travels to the Southern states, I find the people there to be more friendly. I’ve enjoyed all the encounters of strangers in the South. They made my trips memorable.

Here in southwest Ohio, lots of folks wave (as do I) on our country roads. Just being friendly.
