I always identified with Diane and usually had lunch at the Irish Village near my main workplace once or twice a week, eating at the bar as most of the lunch crowd did. I was working as an engineer and there were a mailman, a quarrelsome couple and many other characters (including one guy who wanted to pick off of the plates of others). The bartender at the time was a very boisterous Irish woman (rather like the “good” waitress that Diane once picked for Cheers). They had a great small luncheon filet mignon and fresh carrot cake muffins and a good house salad with great blue cheese dressing. I would have all that and a couple of martinis (back when you could do that) and continue on to work -usually at a different plant to not account for the time. Just like Cliff, it seems the mailman as well as the others were there whenever I had my lunch (not always same time).

I only remember “Cheers” by means of its theme song; was too young to remember an episode.

Now the new shows I watch on upstairs TV are still Simpsons, Daddy’s Home, The Exes, etc. but I still have some Cheers filling the gaps.

Never liked Rebecca Howe either, but I loved Coach and Carla- all the old gang.

My sister works in hollywood and told me that while filming “Cheers”, the actors drank real alcohol during takes :)
