Actually the pilgrims were part of a business venture so they were plenty legal. If you want to read a really interesting first hand account of the pilgrims’ experience search for “Mourt’s Relation.” It’s available in PDF, ePub, etc.
Yes, some say that all of our forefathers were “illegal” but that is only because the laws are so routinely broken in recent years that the laws are becoming meaningless.
I’m sure that is the aim of many. Most ancestors on my mother’s side go back about that far. Dad never bothered to try tracing his side (and Irish names, even my Welsh surname) are so common that it is difficult to be sure.
I prefer to just create my own accomplishments and take pride in my own descendants. New Scot groom is in the front and kid with the green beer is not family. My lover is behind me on the stairs of daughter’s patio. Only one daughter-in-law and grandson (both in CO) did not manage to attend.
Can’t see why the Plymouth colony was illegal immigration and the Roanoke and Jamestown colonies weren’t. Sorry, this is stupid. Disappointing strip today, Rick Detorie.
Actually the Chinese that came over to the west coast hundreds of years before was the first. That’s where all the so called ‘Native Americans’ came from
There were were no immigration laws so there were no illegals, just a pushy bunch of self righteous new comers. My own ancestors were part of the invasion. That was hundreds of years ago so I don’t dwell on the fact.
Really, Rick?Illegal immigrants implies that there would have been the concept of “legal” immigrants, which there weren’t since there were no laws, as there was no governmental body ruling the land. So please, enough with giving people guilt trips to accept illegal aliens. It’s not a logical, factual, or intellectual argument.

Not the FIRST. Even if you only count the continental US, there were the English at Jamestown and the Spaniards in Florida.

Today’s “Brewster Rockit” also mentions the Mayflower. What’s the occasion?
