^If I’m the one paying for it, my desires can be taken into account a little more. Especially since a MacBook is very useful (and as Fairportfan says, overpriced) for business, whereas a Kindle is, in essence, a very nice toy.
As for reading a classic on a machine - I have an entire library of classics on my Kindle, and it goes with me everywhere. And guess what? All my classics were free.
I can read whatever I want, whenever I want.
Try telling someone with arthritic hands, who couldn’t read a big paperback (let alone a hardback) without pain, that paper books are better.
I just wish Mr. Hinds had done a bit of homework - Harry Potter isn’t available - legally, that is - for Kindles. Also, you can’t see Kindles in stores.
i don’t think bill ever said harry potter was avaiable on kindle, i think he was having the character think automatically of harry potter when thinking of books. (kind of like my niece, who read and re-read all the potter books but couldn’t be convinced to read anything else.)
yyyguy, your niece might like Diana Wynne Jones’ books. Archer’s Goon is one of my favorites. Very fantasy, magic, usually with humor, and very well written.
@krisl73 & Fairportfan2: thanks for the suggestions, but she’s out grown her harry potter obsession, as well as her teens, and is now into Manga - among other forms of entertainment. the strip just reminded me of how she used to be.

Love my Kindle. The space it save’s alone is worth the cost. And for those who say I want a real book in my hands believe me they all read the same.

Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

Other than that, he’s right on the money!

I even read the newspaper on my Kindle but it doesn’t include the comics! So, I have to come here for the comics.
