This is your cursive writing homework?
yes.
Its the worst cursive writing ever!
are these words? they look like a bunch of waves!
I know right?
Thats why I doodled the little boat on top!
Most schools aren’t teachng cursive writing any more. The author needs to research what’s really being taught. All the schools around here are teaching now are the achievment tests – and sending him 6 to 8 hours of homework a night, expecting the parents to homeschool the kids in what they SHOULD be learning during school hours.
I guess Robb can put anything in the strip he darn well pleases. In “Curtis,” Mrs. Nelson calls students by their last names – definitely not done any longer.
In my grandkids’ school, students are taught cursive writing, but they don’t have a whole periiod dedicated to it. During the dark ages when I was in second grade at Hillsdale Elementary in Pittsburgh, I attended handwriting class, practiced writing circles, etc. (Also learned that you don’t tug on a boy’s crew cut to get his attention – got hit in the nose.)
Cursive is still commonly taught in grades 3-4 as part of language arts. Research has shown “handwriting is a foundational skill that helps children develop in other areas, such as reading, writing, memory, and critical thinking”. If your kids aren’t being taught this do it yourself. My son struggled with handwriting until I taught him cursive. He just wrote quicker with cursive.

With this effective tremor, I can’t write cursive. My uncial has a shelf life of only 30 minutes or so and is strictly an aide memoir.

My oldest learned cursive. The others aren’t at that grade level yet, but I expect they will learn it.

When I have to take notes on something, and I don’t have a computer handy, cursive is the way to go! Much faster than printing.
