According to an old urban legend, during her days on a Baltimore TV station, and supposedly on live TV, Oprah Winfrey once asked Frank Perdue (the original chicken man; his son Jim runs the business now), “Has anyone ever told you you look like a chicken?” Perdue is supposed to have replied, “Has anyone ever told you you look like a baboon?” After a moment of icy stares, they are supposed to have split the set in opposite directions, leaving Oprah’s shocked co-host to fill for 58 minutes. It’s a great story; but there’s no independent corroboration.

" …and the award for “the man with the most pluck goes to…”…now if I could just read this handwriting, really, it’s like a bunch of chicken scratches.
