I knew a guy that had a pituitary problem, i.e. a tumor growing on it that caused it to start up again after he was an adult, causing him to develop acromegaly. His hands and feet started growing, but not the rest of him, because the rest of his growth plates had already fused. Fortunately he realized something was up when his wedding ring wouldn’t fit any more and they got to it before it caused worse problems.
