The brain is more complex than a muscle. In fact its cell structure is way beyond that of a muscle. The brain isn’t a muscle as it doesn’t contract or relax and it keeps itself ‘supported’ via a constant supply of fluid, without the reliance on any muscular mass.
I remember asking my own Dad this and him explaining to me how bodybuilding works and completely shattering my notion that Arnold and Sylvester and Abobo from Double Dragon just naturally looked that way.
My mother would never admit when she was wrong to me or my brothers, at least not until we were adults. I never understood why, but it just made us trust her less.
Gene, when he’s out of the house, drives a delivery truck.
That’s somewhat good in terms of weight training, especially since I thought that parcels were largely getting lighter in the past 30 years, so more of his load should be heavy enough to build some muscle.
As for classy and bigrafi’s argument in its own thread, Gene very much strikes me as either “blue-collar version of Cliff Huxtable”, or “acts just like the Bill Cosby of his books does”.
Whether that’s abusive or not by modern standards is open to debate, but it’s not abuse on the level of anything that would have earned a CPS visit in 1988 or ’89.

Actually, did you know, your brain lives as an organism?Oh, fun fact. Slime mold has no brain, and it makes decisions, cool right?

I’m with dad; I mean, call it what you want, but just like any muscle you either use it or lose it.

The thing is, this is a really good question.
