A new character must have a name if it’s going to stick around. Maybe simply Eddie in honor of Britain’s hapless Eddie the Eagle ski jumper. But if he’s an eagle, what kind? Does New Zealand have eagles too?
This post made me google Challenger, the American Eagle who flew in stadiums, etc. I got all emotional as usual. Challenger retired in 2019 from flying due to cataracts, (but he is still making educational gloved appearances). In 2022 a young eagle (currently named Atlas) is being trained as a flying eagle like Challenger. This year, in June 2024, Challenger had cataract surgery and can see much better!!! From posted pictures, Atlas looks solid black – his coloration may change as he matures – but I am unsure of that.

Nice to see a new bird, but the beak color is weird.

If you cross your eyes on the second and third panels, there’s a 3D effect between the bird and the food stand.

Birds of prey aren’t terribly choosy about what their prey is. Just FYI.
