Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for August 22, 2010
Transcript:
Dill: I just rode my kiddie car all the way around the circle! Alice: See anything interesting? Dill: Yes! I saw where somebody set off some fireworks. And one of those signs warning that new people are coming. And a big, giant wad of blue chewing gum. And some really great dirt by the storm drain. And a bunch of mushrooms. And a tree with two socks in it. Of all the things I saw, that was the one that blew my mind. Till now, I had not realized that's where socks come from. Alice: Don't be silly! Somebody stuck their feet out of an airplane and their socks fell off! Kevin: Oh, ICK! GUM!

Oh, where are those good old days, when socks grew on trees?! (Alice is only marginally more scientific!)

I never knew socks grew on trees! But every time we pack, my wife reminds me to bring our toilet trees.

I don’t believe it. My parent’s tree would never do that.

one of the things i am greatly enjoying about photography as my retirement hobby is learning to look closely at things i would previously have completely ignored as unimportant background clutter. this comic makes me think that i am rediscovering something i had as a kid.

Always thought socks grew under my son’s bed. They need darkness to sprout, like mushrooms.
One of our neighbors has a tree that grows beer bottles.

Funny, but my trees don’t have socks. Must be a different variety… And I also love the “Warning sign that new people are coming” – it’s always nice to be given fair warning!

That does it…I’m trading my pickup in for a kiddie car.

Whose mind would ever think that a realtor’s yard sign would be a warning that new people were coming? Hilarious!
