Dad: Yay! Alice is up and ready to start the day! Dad: Oh, she's eating breakfast! Look how colorful her cereal is! Dad: Now we're in the car and on the way! Dad: Look at all the cars! Everybody has somewhere to go! Dad: Here we go down the bid hill! Wheeeee! Dad: Uh-oh! Railroad crossing! Ding ding ding! Dad: Three more blocks and we'll be at Blisshaven Preschool! Dad: Here we are! All of Alice's friends are waiting for her! Alice: I thought my Dad was going to narrate my whole day! Boy: Adults do that in an attempt to understand a big scary world. Dill: HA! Good luck with that.

Uncle Garrett? How did you get in there?

Arrgh! I agree with Alice; that constant third-person narration would drive me bonkers. Marcus and Dill provide a much-needed anodyne….

I’m stumpified why did the litle orange car turn blue in the fifth panel? Was it going down hill too fast?

He should have been video-taping it all. Alice could be a star on U-tube.

Anodyne. Had to look that one up! Thanks. My brain is bigger now.

On the one hand I find this humorous because it is so ridiculously patronizing, but I also find it irritating for the same reason. Most kids are not so dumb that they need a running commentary on everything they do, every place they go, et. al.; too bad Dad didn’t get to hear the pointed comments of Alice’s pals. “Here is Mr. Otterloop stunned by preschoolers who show the sense and wisdom that he only thought he possessed.”
