I remember the Rube Goldberg breakfast device in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Wouldn’t call that a robot though. Anyway, Alice is about to get pancaked.

Catch the pancakes, but be careful when the syrup, orange juice, and coffee come your way.

I’m old enough to remember the classic Robert McCloskey children’s book “Centerburg Tales” one of whose stories involved the owner of the local diner who got an automatic doughnut making machine that wouldn’t stop making doughnuts. And of course there is the much older classic short story by Ellis Parker Butler “Pigs is Pigs” about a post office manager, who got inundated with breeding guinea pigs because he insisted that the owner pay the shipping cost for oink-oink pigs rather than the much cheaper rate for pets. That inspired an incident in the Robert Heinlein juvenile sf novel “The Rolling Stones” which was later swiped by David Gerrold for the Star Trek episode “The Trouble with Tribbles.”

I think of Dill’s brothers as Muggle Weasley twins.
