Petey: It's my most dreaded moment of the year- walking into a classroom full of new people. Petey: All of them staring at me-openmouthed with disbelief. Petey: Sounds like an ideal time for an out of body experience! Petey: Oh, yeah. Petey: I know what-close your eyes and we'll make a dash for it! C'mon! In we go! Petey: No! WAIT! UNHAND ME!
My mum, always one to boost the old ego, would ask me, at moments such as this, what made me think I was special enough for people to be interested in how I looked.
I’d try to slip in unobtrusively – and then trip over a chair.
