Petey: Can I go inside? The bugs are bothering me. Mom: Try to ignore them Petey. Petey: That won't work-bugs can sense rejection. Also, disgust, contempt, unease, feigned indifference and false bravado. Petey: And they can sense embarrassment, awkwardness and hesitancy. Gah! See? It's following me! Petey: If I stand just inside the screen door it can't get me. No matter how much I register my disgust! Nyah nyah! Alice: I got some lawn trimmings in my hot dog. Mom: Spit it out. Mom: Has the first cookout of the year ever been so magical? Dad: Careful, bugs can sense sarcasm.
I’ve never understood the attraction of eating outdoors. Eating indoors and then going outside to frolic with the bugs afterward, sure.
