Alice: Dill! Dill: what? Alice: Are you pretending you're tall? Dill: Yeah. Alice: Well, stop it! Alice: It makes your head seem smaller. Dill: OK. Alice: Your head's small enough as it is. Dill: hee hee hee!
Their imaginations must be connected if they can see the same thing. By the way Alice, when we grow, our heads don’t get smaller, it’s just that the body grows faster than the head.
It’s very sweet that Dill & Alice are so attuned to one another – so simpatico, that she can tell when he’s pretending to be whatever. Is there any doubt these two are destined for romance?
I love it that Alice’s head angle never changes; seeming to look at Dill’s knees when he’s “tall.” She sees the reality while recognizing he’s pretending, and we see him from his own point of view. Brilliant cartooning.
A reporter went to interview General Tom Thumb. He got his hotel room number, went up, and knocked on the door. When it opened, there was an eight-foot giant standing there.“Oh, I’m sorry,” said the reporter. “I was looking for General Tom Thumb.”“I’m General Tom Thumb,” said the giant.“But you’re eight feet tall!”“I know. It’s my day off.”

I can’t imagine what Kevin’s bucket head would look when Kevin pretends to be tall.

Dill’s head looks just the right size for Dill, at least to my eyes, Alice….

Is it just me, or does Dill look like the Big Friendly Giant from the movie BFG?
