Somebody brought lice into our school when I was in the fifth grade. I don’t know what they put on our hair, but it made the scalp itch something fierce!
I remember an episode of “Dirty Jobs” where they were covering a special hair salon that specialized in dealing with lice infections. Even after being warned not to touch the customers or equipment one of the cameramen ran his hand through a customers hair to get a better view of the infestation and then scratched head without washing his hands first. He ended up being the next customer.
Alice is the only kid who is happy to think that she might have head lice. I had long hair most of my life and it hurt when my mom had to comb through my hair when I was a girl.
