You can try to find a big, beautiful stick for your mom, Dill!

The Giant Flower Arc, one of my faviorites, and i’ts almost all in the visuals. MOstly one in paticualar but for those reading the strip daily for the first time, I won’t spoil it. Those who’eve read this one know exactly what i’m talking about.

Richard Thompson created Alice with a personality right up there with the original Dennis the Menace and Calvin of Calvin and Hobbes. He died much to soon.

I’m surprised she could get it out, considering it looks like a thistle.

That looks like a thistle (as mentioned above) and the little needles are accurately portrayed. Surprised they could grab hold and not hurt their hands!

Yes, love this one. It reminds me of the time my family and I grew a single flower in our backyard. It was a beautiful orange tiger lily and we never grew another thing.

Let me guess. The flower and/or the bugs will take over the garden, and , quite possibly, the house.

Dill, I would say, speaks for the Common Man (he is Richard’s way of offering in-strip commentary), except that he is in the uncommon position of being Alice’s future husband!

Alice’s giant dandelion (if that is what it is) will be a dud as far winning favor with Mom is concerned….
