Our family could always tell how exciting a movie was by how many times my mom had to run to the ladies’ room in the theatre. At least with home video and now DVD, we can pause it so she does not miss out on a major plotline and not have to explain what she missed at the end of the movie. (Gotta keep mom happy, and that was okay with us – she’s a great cook. And a great Mom. Just one of her idiosyncrasies.)
The one and only time I fell asleep watching a movie in a theater was Popeye, starring Robin Williams. 1980. Hard to believe this is the same Robin Williams who later won an Oscar.
I’m a watcher. The hubby likes to kick back with movies to help relax. It has to be really boring or I have to be really tired to fall asleep. Usually I keep watching with the hope that something good will happen or it will get better…..we all know they never do.
Depends entirely on how interesting/amusing the film IS. I purposely have skipped movies that have sad depressing themes (no matter HOW many Oscars they give themselves). If my lover and I go to a movie it is his choice and I love the comedies (Ted was great except for a few tiny bits) and I can put up with his Bond films if we hold hands. At home we’ll have TV on but mainly ignore it, and at my house, I TiVo everything, so I watch stuff like Chopped, Top Chef, Iron Chef while dining, ID Channel mysteries while doing hobbies and the news while I fix breakfast.
I haven’t been to the movies in ages. Hubby and I went to see “Raiders of the Lost Ark” when we were dating; I thought it was going to be about animals. He likes Sci-Fi and I don’t, so he goes with a friend, and they make a day of it.
Have only gone to the theatre to see the LOTR trilogies, and now the Hobbit. If I’m home, and it’s late, I generally tend to nod off and miss the end, so I rarely watch a movie anymore.
hubby took the kids for the 2nd time to see The Croods. When they got home he said “I must have slept through a lot more than I thought last time!” He always sleeps through the middle of the movie.

If I paid for the movie I’m not going to sleep through it. If it’s at home, it depends on how tired I am.

Oh no. Now, he’s ruined it for me. Next thing you know, he’ll be saying that Dorothy wakes up back in her own bed, or something like that.
