Many years ago my wife tried boiling an egg in our microwave.
The egg exploded, the pressure pushed the door open far enough to cause the safety circuit to turn off the magnetron, which caused the door latch to de-energize. The door blew open and egg was sprayed across the kitchen to the opposite wall and up to the ceiling.
Back in the 70s when Microwave ovens were first becoming popular a coworker decided to warm up a hard boiled egg. He had already taken the shell off before putting it in. When he returned to his desk he sat down and took a bite. It exploded causing a big mess and burns to his lips and tongue.

OK… up to me again, I guess…
Sigh….
Nobody else is doing it, and Tigressy is still out drinking beer….
I hope.
So…. Tony asks:
“Did you know?”
About the egg?
Yes….
Most people know that, I think…..
but a lot of them don’t know that it also applies to things like egg yolks, and potatoes…anything with an intact skin or covering that has to be pierced to allow steam to escape when they heat up.
A neighbor, years ago, blew up a few pounds of new potatoes….
I could hear the little explosions, and went running out to see what was happening..
The skins had exploded, twisting the potatoes into small spirals,
and throwing parts of their insides onto the walls of the microwave, where they quickly baked into hard little blobs of potato cement.

Luckily she wasn’t in front of it at the time.

@Tony:
I didn’t know, but then, I never wanted to try it. But you all can try answering today’s…
Second “Daddy’s Home” Question:
What have you tried in the microwave that you shouldn’t have?

“The Lexington Herald-Leader”?
Is that Lexington, Kentucky, or Lexington, Massachusetts?

I can’t think of anything I ever put in the microwave that I shouldn’t have. I knew about eggs and potatoes.

Looks like you have a huge mess to clean up Elliot. Better get to it before that stuff dries in there.
