My little bother, I mean brother tested the limits of my parent’s patience with a messy room. My dad told him to clean it or he (Dad) would clean it and he’s find his stuff on the curb for the trash. My brother refused and when he got off the school bus a few days later, all his strewn about stuff was gathered up and sitting on the curb. It took him quite a while to gather it all up, bring it back inside and put it away properly. He still had to be told occasionally to clean his room.

I had to keep my room up to spec or risk beatings. As a adult I find it difficult to declutter and even throw out the trash.

Simple solution, Parents, make him clean his room before he can do anything else and have daily room inspections until he earns the right to not have them…..

Grab collar and pants and toss into room, not coming out for anything until cleaned up. Parenting 101.
