January or February of 1975 we had a blizzard in Baltimore, and the company for which I worked refused to let us off until the governor declared a state of emergency. Hubby had just had surgery, but he nailed pieces of paneling to 1×2s and he and the three girls went out and shoveled a place for me to get my car off the road. About five minutes after I got in, SHA plowed our road and I didn’t leave the house for three days. snow up to the door handles.

And then the next dog froze, and the next one… It was a three-dog night.
