My doctor has a patient who is a 90-year-old woman who always dresses to the nines, including always wearing high heels. He told her she could remove her shoes to do a toe-to-heel balance walk (like in a police sobriety test). She did the walk in her high heels, then asked him if he’d like to see her do it backwards. What a dame!!
Best advice I’ve gotten on physical balance – mentally attach a string to the top of your head, and stand as if it’s pulled tight. It makes a huge difference for me in doing any exercise that requires standing on one foot.
It only really helps for the first leg into the underwear, though, as the limited stretch of the underwear itself makes the second foot dicey. My best advice there is, if you snag a toe, let go! It’s not worth falling.
