Pity the CIA guy wasn’t standing in a slightly different place. Then we wouldn’t need the “CIA Headquarters” caption, because we’d be able to see the huge “CIA” sign on the wall.
At least Rubin and friend won’t be drawing funny-looking things, such as an arm growing out of someone’s chest. I’d surmise Locher is paying them out of his cut. Suddenly I hear a bell slowly tolling.

Yes!It’s all part of the Kilian story telling technique. “Build up build up”, round and round, dawdle dawdle, same thing over and over as you say. You wish he would “imitate” Gould, I wish he would too. But I think in addition, each morning as he goes to the drawing board he hasn’t got a “clue” what is going to happen next. And until he finaly “figures” that out, he is well practised in the art of repitition.
The thing to keep an eye on is ‘WHEN’ the crime is committed. Nothing substantive usually happens until he “wakes up” and does that. Gould’s crimes were always in the first 3 WEEKS.
‘Au contraire’, locher often takes several weeks. In Braces 8 weeks, Al Kinda 22.5 weeks, Figment Froid 21.5 weeks. Almost the whole story. That’s why they were so “flicking” boring !
Brace yourself this one is already “smelling”. As Tess’ arm action attests her designer “packaging” will probably read “Boring Stretch”.
So he can “Make anything??” How about that! Can he make out with you ?
Tess is beginning to make me think she is not actually speaking her parts, but she is singing them in classic high-school musical style.
Did anyone find out if Rubin and Whisham are really ghost-writing/drawing some of this or why their names are always on Panel #3, since late Dec? Jeff, if you are reading can you tell us what is going on?
Tess Giggled like a little school girl, knowing that no matter what she told Dick he would quickly forget all about it. This empowered her to let it all hang out.
“When we first met the Prof, he showed us what he can do”.
Tess knew Professor Noll loved being called ‘The Prof’. It was sort of like a pet name for him. All the girls called him that. She really didn’t want to hurt Dick but she felt she had no choice but to visually try to explain how things were to him.
“He can make anything”. Tess joyfully exclaimed while extending both her hand as far to her side as she could. Tess felt like she could fly!
Meanwhile, back at CIA headquarters Agent Cosgrove was still trying to warn his chief of the seriousness of the situation.
“Noll will think twice the next time he walks out on me”! Cosgroves mind raced as he waited to be connected. He was so angry at Noll that he absent mindedly assumed the girly pose that he tried so hard to lose. He HAD to get Noll back!
“He’s out of control, chief. He makes things explode”.
As our CIA’s Cosgrove continues to excite himself about “local” explosions and dabble on FBI turf our Author continues like Dagwood’s “Mr.Dithers”. He doesn’t know what is “happening” and has already ‘forgotten’ the point he ‘set up’ 3 weeks ago. That was what precisel ywas the thing that Diet couldn’t help Tess with? Did the stoty ‘change’ before it really started? Crystal clear signal the Author is confused, uncertain of direction!(?) Every thing to be decided ‘tomorrow’!(?).
Speaking of Blondie, that strip was the # 1 in the USA followed by Tracy in the late 1960’s. Today Blondie is in 2,300 newspapers Dick Tracy in 50 ? Big question WHY?? This despite mamy GREAT artists worked on Blondie including Stan Drake and Dennis LeBrun. It’s significant that the artists were not “presumtious” enough to “change” the appearance of theose well known characters. Not so at DT, where Gould, were he alive would wonder who’s Locher’s “interlopers” were!(?).
“Change!” Liked by Locher who looks the wrong way !

Tess looks different today. Consistency is not a strong point of this strip UNLESS it’s repeating the same action day after day.

margueritem says: Tess, he’s how big?
Haha, good one!
Anthony: nice one about the CIA sign, too bad the artists didn’t think of that.

Sing along!
“Anything you can make, he can make better, he can make anything better than you! No he can’t, yes he can, no he can’t YES HE CAN!”
Exploding faces I tell you! Just a dab of C4 #9 and you’ll be smelling like a pipe bomb in no time!

This has already been dragging on so long, the CIA has had time to update the teletype technology in Cosgrove’s office with a PC.

All we need now is Robert Duvall saying, “I love the smell of exploding perfume in the morning.”

“he makes things explode.” So does a fireworks factory.
