Two new posters in the last couple of days have queried what has happened to past characters. This is when they were Last Seen:
1) Honeymoon Feb - June 1992 - Crime King story - Max Collins 2) Vitamin Flintheart **: Aug - Nov 1998 - Sal Monela story - K & L Note Vitamin : appeared in only one story after Kilian Locher teamed up in mid 1993 3) Joe (aka Cool Kid) - Dec.1999 - Max Gorge story - K & L 4) Sparkle : Dec. 2002 - (“unnamed” CHILD kidnapper) - K & L 5) Junior : July 2004 - Pigg E, Bank story - K&L 6) Pat Patton ! Feb 15,. 2007 - Queen of Diamonds story K & L 7) Sam Catcham : Oct.3, 2008 Braces/Traze-R story. 8) Johnny Adonis & Lee Ebony. Collin’s creation’s haven’t been seen for 20 years.
Kilian died in late 2005 , and Locher has been doing the writing since.
Patton was “retired” as Chief and has not appeared since the date above.
Junior Tracy is now a ”clone” of the Locher family, (drawn “puffy cheeked and long hair) to “look” like Dick Locher’s “late” son John Locher (his one time art assistant in the late 80’s). The strip became a vehicle for a “personal” family memorial
Locher’s favorite “regulars” from the past are B.O.& Gertie Plenty and Diet Smith all of whom appear often
He seems to be dismantling the the concept of a “Major Crime Squad”! Lizz was promoted to Chief, and the remaining member Sam Catchem has been given a non-functional “back-seat”, appearing in only 23 panels (out of the 3,528 daily ones available to Locher in all that period), with Locher as Author these past 4 years !.Sam’s not even depicted as back-ground material in the past 14 months. !
Aside from Diet Smith and B.O. the regular character pool that readers recall fondly, have been facially altered or decimated and replaced with a laughable, gender challenged secretarial/message man(?) named Teevo !
Readers are still trying to “figure out” the upside to his rush to “change” (?) Newspapers carrying the strip are down to only **50, a loss of 83% over 16 years.
Since Kilian’s death, Locher has been “writing” the strip the past 4 years. His contract runs to end 2010. Brozman is the new Art man !
