How right you are Jumbo, a casual presentation of an unemloyed (or âunderemployedâ) Sam Catchem, milling in the curious crowd and wondering why fate has delt such an unkind blow (?)
Could this be Locherâs way of âsticking a fingerâ to US for the caustic but largly accurate reviews weâve been giving his careless work here ?
Some years ago I believe (or would like to ;) he did the same thing using a villain name - âSyd Sacks.â (late 1998), ⊠coming on the heels of a series of unfavorable âcritiquesâ in âartickesâ in a D.T. âFANâ magazine I knew he read.. The technique was clever and rather subtle. By the simple change of a âvowelâ the rogues name became a âmessageâ ⊠SYD S U CKS. ;)
Perhaps he thought that was somehow cunning and brilliant as the PUNS he makes with such frequency in the strip these days (?)
