margueritem said, “…I believe that Leaky has deserted us.”

I just remembered… in yesterday’s Annie comments, Leaky said, “…The Gulf Coast is calling me for a couple days.”

    Has everyone abandoned us?

Gweedo Murray said, “It’s Friday night guys! They got better things to do than geek around in the funny papers.”

There are better things in life than this? You’re kidding, Gweedo.

Where am I? THAT WAS ME ON THE PHONE! Didn’t you see? I was calling Dick Tracy to let him know I can reduce his cable TV/Internet/telephone bill by over forty percent!

Today Tracy turns cartoony. Why he looks a little fat in the first panel? Nobody knows. But I think the last panel is way cool.

Not a minute to be alone Tracy picks up the phone Who is the caller on the line Wasting all his precious time Is it a tip for a brand new case Or Lizz, putting him in his place What zany capers wait for him Threatening both his life and limb Robots, perfume and a tiger doom Not to mention the violins Floooom Are just a minor distraction For this manly man of action But if there is one thing he does fear It’s the sound of a salesman in his ear.

Locher is stuck for new ideas so they’re sending Tracy back to the circus.

Yesterday gillbillvolume1 said Dick should shoot Tess – I think he should shoot the phone!

He doesn’t need the phone; if they need him at the station they can call him on his two-way wrist teevee – and every time that fersluginer phone rings it starts another stoopid pointless sequence of events that make no sense – and that isn’t helping him recover from the brain damage; it’s only making him more and more confused….

If he could only get away from the freaks with short arms and tiny malformed hands and bizarre motiveless behavior and associate with normal human beings, that alone could make a tremendous difference in his prognosis.

Mark my words (and yes, I cheat by reading ahead)… this little telephone interlude has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING. In a few days, it’s as if it never happened.

    Continuity, schmontinuity.

Hey what the hell time do you guys read this strip midnight?!?

Here on the West Coast we get DT a little after 10. My parents said I could stay up till then.

I think Tess is using a cordless phone. Locher would never make a mistake like that.

As neonleon59 points out it’s not a new story start. Although with Tess there as the phone rings you could have fooled me. But Locher still has an EPILOGUE for us, and isn’t it a zany one !
