Salutations Everyone!I still love the timeless feel of Tracytown. Usually it’s 2011 with some 1930’s thrown in and now it’s the 1970’s. I probably shouldn’t admit this. But, if it wasn’t for Dick Tracy and all those classic 70’s cop shows,I watched when I was a kid. I just may have chosen a different profession. But I love my job so it all worked out.Great Job, as always, Mike and Joe!!!
DT veterans have identified Mr. Eiz as the known villain B.B. Eyes. I’ll take their word for it. He certainly looks like a successful rackets-boss. Hope he doesn’t see through Junior’s disguise….
Actually, B B Eyes is a classic rogue from way back in 1942, a tire bootlegger who was the brother of Jacques. He met his end in a garbage scow, memorably trapped by a discarded tire at the bottom of the river. At least, that’s where we last saw him. I’m wondering how the team is going to explain how he managed to get out of that situation, or perhaps it’s not that same B B Eyes at all. After all, Joe Period palled around with a man who had a very distinctive face much like his dad, and we do know that B B Eyes had a wife who memorably sought revenge against Tracy with the help of another classic rogue, Itchy. But whether it’s the original Eyes or a close relative, it seems like bootlegging is still the name of the game. :D
It was all spelled out in yesterday’s strip. idesama saw it and tried to clue me in…and I still missed it! I’ll have to turn in my Junior Crimestoppers badge.
Now the big question: will Junior recognize B. B. Eyes?
I missed the significance of the name “Bea-Bea” in yesterday’s strip.@ idesama: A few weeks ago Mike posted a comment in which he hinted at the return of BB Eyes. I posted a comment to remind him that the original BB Eyes was last seen drowned in a garbage scow inside an old tire. Mike did not answer that, so I’m thinking he must have an answer all ready to be revealed in this story.
Another cool “blast from the past” -When Bonny Braids was only an infant, Crewy Lou showed up with mischief on her mind, and Tracy sent Junior to her photo studio with that ring camera to get a shot of her assistant, a guy called Sphinx.
the original bb eyes episode lasted from early February 1942 to April 19, 1942. the garbage skow emptied its load, including the escaping bb, into a lake. bb fell with the rest of he trash to the bottom and the last scene shows him prone on the lake bottom with a big tire around him. the strip mentions bb’s “final moments” and tracy talks about bringing up the body later and then moves on to the next adventure. the assumption of course is that bb is dead (and he sure looks dead) but it is possible that he escaped.
Okay … I now understand what that is overlapping BB’s right shoulder … you are correct Mr. Thompson … it is the desk lamp. The color-guy screwed up. He has part of BB’s chair colored a sort of gray-brown and the lamp is the same color … the rest of his chair is white. Whew!!! Now I can sleep tonight.

When I saw yesterday’s “Bea Bea Entertainment,” I had a suspicion. Awesomeness! I can’t wait to see how he escaped his watery grave.
