Tracy has to find out if the Great Am really did call Warbucks; Warbucks spoke as if Am had never met Flammel, but Am told Tracy and the Spirit that he’d met her centuries ago. So was that a fake call? Who would pose as Am?Is there a player we haven’t seen yet? The Octopus, maybe?
Warbucks’ interest, in turn, seems to come from Doc Savage discovering a life-prolonging serum back in 1933. Savage has always been considered a preeminent man of science, whose associates were among the top men in their respective fields.
Up to now we still do not know who brought the $0.25M part of the $1.25M. Some days you will say that could be Spirit and on other days you think that it couldn’t be him. The bidders are departing one by one and before we know it the fifth bidder is gone.
Diet Smith and Daddy Warbucks, competitive gazillionaires? Say it ain’t so!
Actually it seems perfectly believable that the two giants of commerce, research and development, and shady dealings, with shaded truths, would be rivals in the quest for an Immortality Drug, a.k.a. Elixir of Life.
If no surprise new suspect is brought forward, my money is on Ramon Escobar, though perhaps with the prompting of some bigger fish….

We need both Double-Up and the Dragon Lady as recurring characters, we need the Great Am, so it has to be the butler who did it!

I love the logic- Smith wanted the formula only because Warbucks did. Completely believable.
