Somehow, would’ve figured that Autolite might retain ownership of Piston Puss, much as UPA (… or its current corporate owners) do with Joe Jitsu and Go-Go Gomez.
If he joined the others before entering the murder room, his coat should be in the outer room. But here we see it in the murder room. This means that he came into the murder room, took off his coat, did the murder, and then joined the others in the outer room.
1. On Sunday we saw that it was a blustery winter day with snow falling and blowing.
2. No one has left the room since entering and finding Krispies dead.
3. On Monday we learned that everyone arrived at the same time.
4. We learn the name of Notgo Meszadams and that he is a housing developer.
5. Meszadams states that he came on a “lovely” winter morning. “Lovely” seems an odd word to use since we have already seen it was dark and blustery.
6. Since Meszadams was there to ask for investments, it would seem unmotivated for him to be the murderer since killing Krispies would not gain him an investment in his subdivision. Does he have some other motive?
7. On Sunday the “widow” seemed to be crying but on Monday her body language and posture seemed to be more aloof and angry. We are not certain that she actually is the widow or what her exact relationship to Krispies happens to be but she apparently does not live in the mansion since everyone “arrived” at the same time. The young woman seems angry as well. We do not know as yet her reason for being there.
8. Today we meet Piston Puss, an ex-con who has “apparently” gone straight. We learn he has come to confront Krispies about not getting paid for running a car lot. We learn that he is the last to arrive and remove his coat.
9. We see a coat tree with at least 3 coats (but 4 suspects not counting Jarvis). We see an umbrella in an umbrella stand. One of the coats is dripping a puddle of water on the floor as if the wearer has been out in the blustery weather for a longer duration than simply walking from the car to the front door (On Sunday we saw that the mansion had a circular driveway and those arriving could drive up to within a few feet of the front door. Oddly, there is no puddle under the umbrella. Since we only saw Tracy’s old-time police car in the driveway on Sunday, that would indicate Krispies employed a footman who would park the cars at another location after the drivers departed).
One umbrella = one suspect came in while it was precipitating outside. A puddle on the floor indicates it was probably raining or snowing later than earlier …. If Piston was the last to arrive, this may implicate him. Maybe.
Two coats; two hats. Two people who are not residents of the Krispies mansion. These would be Meszadams and Puss. The two women (whoever/whatever they turn out to be) seem to reside there. The umbrella seems to be irrelevant as a clue. So it seems to me at this time….
Is Puss N Boots their sword wielding Chinese relative? It so happens that Chinese family names comes first in their names. So the western name of Puss N Boots is Boots N Puss. LOL

If Piston Puss took off his coat, then joined the others, his coat should be on top.

Kudos to those Super-Fans who recognized “Piston Puss” immediately.

FUN FACT: Piston Puss apparently only appeared in a print advertisement for “Autolite” company, which still exists.
Here’s the ad, in its entirety [ No Pun Intended! ]

If it was “A Lovely Winter’s Morn” when they arrived – as Notgo noted – whose umbrella is that, and did its owner really arrive the night before~?!!

Piston Puss must have got his head stuck in a jelly jar when he was little.

Piston Puss? Sounds more like one of Duck Twacy’s villains. ( The Great Piggy Bank Robbery; 1946, dir. Bob Clampett)

I can’t quite make out what’s on the coat rack, specifically with the coats. Is that 2 coats and a shadow, or 3 coats?

Two coats, two hats, one umbrella and a puddle.

Wasn’t it snowing when Tracy got there? Could the puddle be melted snow.
