Tracy and Frisk don’t seem to have suffered too badly from the side impact but the Howell’s tire looks very bad. I’ll have to find the picture of what my tire looked like when it went flat a couple of years ago. The garage said they could probably fix it and I told them, “No, you can’t.”
Your steel belt is showing. Looks like some of the outer tire rubber got scraped off but it could still work and the damage is toward the edge but not on the side wall. The author however may well use that not extreme damage as a precursor to a blowout.
Frank Howell has a hard head… No wounds or lumps from hitting and cracking the windshield…
That tire won’t last for long once the belts are exposed and when it does blow, two things might happen… It might just go flat making the car hard to drive, or it may explode and cause a spectacular wreck…
It is the only thing that I do not like about the Dick Tracy strip is the seem obsession of SMOKING. I stopped cold turkey over 12 years ago, a year before my best friend died of lung cancer. The irony is that I do not have a lung cancer but a bone marrow one. Luckily it is dormant.
DAN: I’ve had it with you criticizing my driving all the time woman!
2-PRIMM: You just had to see the fat lady pushing the station wagon, didn’t ya Tracy!
3-TIRE: Here I am, the premier invention of man after fire and look how I get treated! Ignored at best, willfully abused the rest of the time. All I ask for is proper air pressure and a respectful burial when I’m finally on my last tread. And maybe some cool rims on a fast car. But all I get is a plastic hubcap on a station wagon. And then there’s all those awful tire jokes: What has belts but doesn’t wear pants? What always spins in circles but never gets dizzy? What always looks good in basic black? What did The Rubber say when it met the Road (You look hot!)
Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds, they say. Call me “Tiny.”
Where has “Jimmy” gone? Where did “Frank” come from? Is the cigar-chomper’s full name James Francis Howell? —Just another reminder that this a day-to-day script.
The collision looked much worse than it apparently is, though we have been forewarned that their damaged tire and/or wheel will be a problem for the fugitive Howells.

When you ride a car with bald tires, it’s a death wish.

Also, the radiator may give out due to damage…

Frank’s head might have smashed against the windshield, but, a die hard smoker, he never lost his cigarillo…

Mrs Howell: You said you thought of everything! Frank: Except for snow tires!

“Good thing the airbags didn’t go off! Oh, right. 1980 Dodge Monaco. We’re lucky to have seatbelts.” ;-)

Tracy’s been in enough deliberately rammed cars to pick one that will stand up to that.

It looks like the fender on the Howell’s car got pushed on to the tire. They’ll keep going until the tire blows or the car turns over.

That was a pretty hard t-bone. Did either Frisk’s or Tracy’s airbag deploy?
Probably another reason the Tracyville cops need to get new cars or suvs.

Cut tire, so how long do we have to wait till the curve in the road by the cliff side?

So the Howells both smoke cigars in the car? The Mrs. had one yesterday..

Tracy’s car is kept in much better shape. And maybe have a little reinforcement for times like these.

I drive a former Kansas Highway Patrol car….I can tell you, those things are tough. The Howells are in DEEP trouble.
