I think Burl is actually right about something for a change. Garage parties are pretty far down on the formality list so to standard niceties are gone, gone, gone.And window shopping for girdles? Girdles? Are they still made? Remember when the Sears or Montgomery Ward’s catalogs came out and all the old men and little boys would scan the lingerie pages? Before they made their way to the outhouse for “reading” material?
No garage no problem. Just get wall to wall painters tarps. Easy clean up after the party and if there were any holiday “incidents”, they can be easily removed with no evidence. Make sure to cover the walls too.
My wife, a good Catholic girl, fondly!!! remembers her first teaching job. Principal who didn’t think Catholics could teach in public schools, heels, hose, slip, rubber Playtex girdle. Ah, those were the days!
Gee, I remember a certain catalog that some ’o the buds and I found out on the playground one recess time. Hubba Hubba!! The nun outed us when Jimmy D. rolled the catalog up and stuck it in his back pocket when the bell to come in sounded and he got caught bringing it into class!!
My best friend and her husband had an anniversary party in June in their garage. My friend is a very clean person and I’ve never known them to actually park in the garage. They had tables set up, the food was covered. They also had their fire pit going and plenty of citronella candles. They don’t have AC and there’s more room for sitting outside than in.
I remember having a party on my patio for my X-husband and much of his family (aunts, brothers and nephews) as well as my own family. All this was to please my children (because I never told them just how abusive their dad was to me). I still plan my next house to have a large open space for teaching or dining,
