My wife has a friend—actually a long-time acquaintance—that will go through the nuts in a dish and pick out the cashews. She also will eat off of everyone else’s plate after having picked at scabs and sores on her arms AND EATING THEM!!! OMG! No one wants to be around her, and certainly no one ever eats after she arrives.
A friend once told me the difference between scum and slime. Scum floats on top of the water and you can skim it off. Slime grows on the wall under the water and the only way to clean it is to get into the water and get messy scrubbing it off the walls. When he called somone a slime, he meant they were much worse than someone he called scum.

yeah, finally get rid of last autumn’s leaf-carpet on the lawn, then concentrate on all the bare patches left when ter grass died…..
