Verl doesn’t have any friends at work……….she’s been there 35 years, is still in an "entry level " position and all the other employees in her level are 18. They don’t want to hang with an “old lady” and besides Jerry came to work to pick up Verl, once, and scared the other girls so bad, they cross themselves whenever Verl passes them in the hall.

Actually for once Burl is right about gossip. It is usually either a half to total LIE.. Mostly spread because the teller is too lazy to improve their own life and want to bring others down.

Yeah, you don’t wanna spoil the mystique of how urban legends and folk tales that have circled the globe countless times since antiquity work, do you? Oh. right….she’d just as soon wreck THAT, too, with her elephant, high on quaaludes and such and stumbling into the living room, manner.

One of my pet peeves is when someone is telling me a story about another person that I’ve never met and they spend most of the time trying to remember their name. “What was her name?? Ummm….I think it was Linda….or…wait…no it was Lynette. Yes, Lynette Jones. No wait….Lynette Smith. Lynette Jones was a girl in my 5th grade class. I’m pretty sure her last name was Smith. Wait…no…she got a divorce later that year so she went back to her maiden name of ummm….what was it?? Ummm….”

By that time I’m like…okay, can we get on with the story or does her name play an important role?
