my ex’s niece parks in handicapped spaces….she’s legally blind, but the Great State of Florida let her keep her driver’s license…so she parks, and gets out with her seeing eye dog….this was a dozen years ago though, but true
I had a son in a wheelchair, and still didn’t use the space if we didn’t really need to. I used to write a lot of tickets for that. One time, a guy parked diagonally across BOTH spaces in front of the pharmacy. They said something, and he got all belligerent. He was gone when I got there, but they got his plate, so I took a statement and mailed him TWO $135 parking tickets by certified mail, along with a letter telling him the tickets og on the car, not the operator. Another time, I took my son to the dentist, and the space was occupied. Bad enough that once inside I had to carry him upstairs. When he was in with the dentist, I called my buddy to come and tag the car. It was one of the receptionists. She came out and said "There were no close spaces. I’m like, “I KNOW, I had to carry my son across the lot.”
on a visit to the home and garden center the other day we watched a cab driver pull into a handicapped space after dropping off a passenger. the cabbie was still there 20 minutes later, idling his engine and nonchalantly blowing his cigarette smoke out the open window…

I park in them all the time, when I can find one empty. The first time I parked in one I got a $50.00 ticket!
