Winn Dixie investors bought back the chain from the Aldi chain. YEAH

I remember a lot of stores when I was growing up. Piggly Wiggly, Winn Dixie, Cas Walkers, TG&Y.

……we had lots of “Mom & Pop” stores, way back when I was this creepy ‘lil kid……….takin’ the empty “pop” bottle you found along the road on the way to there and cashing them in to buy candycandycandycandy was always such a hoot……

That space will soon be sectioned off into a tattoo clinic, a smoke shop, a martial arts place, and Burl’s favorite ice cream parlor…!

In Illinois, this was probably an IGA.

Fun fact: Lincoln, IL still has an IGA!

But there was a serious shortage of free samples.

Grocery store consolidation has done a remarkable job of slowly increasing prices all around.
