Never had that problem myself, but I can see how that’d be extra confusing. I just assume their smells are contradictory.
Always trust your dog. If my dog doesn’t like you there is a very good chance that I won’t either. I swear they can smell your soul.
Same with some cats! If one of our dogs didn’t like you, that’s all there was to it. But if one of our cats didn’t like you, it was time to break off the friendship & politely move it along, far, far away from you, forever!
