I used to use that joke when I did open mike stand-up. But, I used a dummy grenade when I tested for gravity. “Yup, still there.”

That’s the way to save cat-face.

I just performed that same test the other night, subbing in a bed for the fence, and my wooden bed-step for the wisteria. I’m also mostly unharmed, save for the brilliant purple square I’m now sporting on my hind end.

…sure it was. Typical cat, make a mistake but immediately pretend it either never happened, no one saw it, or that they meant to do that. :P

Usually they start immediately washing themselves as a cover.

There are so many jokes in the comics about how cats are jerks. It’s a vastly overused trope, when there’s other good cat humor, like this one. Cats try so hard to be cool, so when they do something silly they always pretend it didn’t happen. I always smile when I see it.
