I experienced nearly the same in real life with my Android phone. Unnecessary permissions AND ads, and a file size measured in a few megabytes, for a flashlight app! Then I found a flashlight WIDGET that hardly uses any memory space at all (44 kilobytes!). No ads, no permissions asked for, no complaints.
If you want free or really cheap apps, they you have to pay by exposing your information. Nothing is free. It amazes me how many aps want your email. I keep one email account just for stores, etc.
I got one simple app that insisted on putting a splash ad on my opening screen that I had to swipe before I could swipe to use my phone. I ditched the app right away and gave it a one-star rating.

That is why I don’t let apps access my information.

The Nigerian tourism app also wants access to your bank account.

I don’t need an app. My Motorola comes with a flashlight button in the pull-down menu.
