Very gracious of the Keplerians, or the Keplerites, or whatever they call themselves, to recognize and appreciate Will for all his good works.

This galaxy (the Milky Way Galaxy) is about 100,000 light-years in diameter. It’s an average sized galaxy. The nearest galaxy to ours is part of the Local Group of galaxies, and is a small, irregular, galaxy about 25,000 light years from the Solar System (the Solar System is well out from the center of the Milky Way) named… Canis Major Dwarf. Yes, it’s named for big dogs. (Actually, it’s a dwarf galaxy in the Canis Major constellation, but let’s just leave it at that.) The Local Group galaxies are local mostly in comparison to other galaxies; the Great Galaxy in Andromeda is about 2.5 million light years out, and it’s less than half-way to the max distance of some galaxies in the Local Group. Johannes Kepler didn’t discover any galaxies, the technology of his time wasn’t up to it, and that kind of thing wasn’t one of his priorities, anyway.

I think that they would also like a reciprocal lick….

It’s official. Good doggoes are universally/galactically appreciated. Now if only these pups get a forever home.

Aw…first feels of the day

Well they certainly went out of their way.

They came to the Milky Way, noticed Will, then travelled a thousand light years.

One of my Marines brought in his service dog today. When he saw I was having a stressful day, he sent him over to let me pet and cuddle him. Made me feel much better. He is a very good dog!

My cat is named Kepler!
