I remember as kid we would lay in the grass and watch the clouds. We never had bugs crawling on us. Now a days you can’t do that, between the mosquitoes, ants and bees it’s impossible.
Believe it or Not, even here in South Central Texas, my dogs like to lay outside on the concrete in the 100+ heat (for very short periods of time). All I can do is pay close attention until they come to the door and ask (bark) to be let in.
