Where'd you find this guy, anyway? Kim: M.I.T. Media Lab. Lars was one of my advisers. The man is stone brilliant. He predicted the failure of video-on-demand and handwriting recognition! He can smell flawed technology three years off! Mike: He only predicts failure? Kim: Only? Does a seismologist only predict earthquakes?
Actually, Netflix opened 8/29/97. It was strictly a DVD rental service when it started. It later moved to the monthly plan (you pay so much a month and you can have X number of DVDs at one time). They started VOD in 2007.
