This ill-timed strip is sadly out of touch. It’s as if Trudeau had gone the way of Jeff, entertaining us with what-might-have-been. To match Red Rascal’s War, GBT gives us “Celebrities and Their Afterlife.”

I am happy watching Trump and Palin fade into oblivion.

I fear Palin will fade. “Fear” because she entertains me, and I like to be entertained. “Fade” because the RNC must have made a command decision somewhere to smother her with a thousand vinyl “stars ‘n’ stripes” on the ground that her super-high national polling negatives will somehow “rub off” on the winner of the GOP presidential nomination (I hope it’s The Newt). Thus, watch for her to “fade to black”. The Donald? Weeell, the GOP “high command” may just let him swing slowly, slowly in the wind. All alone. Whatta pit!

One more thing before I trundle off to slumber land . . . . Anybody else beside me here think The Donald was PRESSURED to “pull out” (no pun intended) of the Dec. 27 “debate” (of two) by the shadowy GOP power$ that be? I mean, he may net-worth out at 2.9 $Bs (Forbes, WSJ, Wikipedia), but that’s pachyderm hockey compared to the amassed $Ts of the true GOP 1%-er elite, who — like the turbaned, long-gray-bearded ayatollahs of modern Persia (despite Ahmadinejad) — actually rule the plutocracy around here. Hey, watch your wallets, my fellow Americans, that blubbering beast has a sticky trunk!

Hey, Trudeau doesn’t have a crystal ball. It Trump was still in it, this would be right on the mark.

Okay, okay, so I can’t sleep just yet. One more burp before I feel comfortable enough to: As we learned from a low-self-esteemed little leprechaun yesterday, The Donald has — by some sleight-of-hand known only to the leprechaun — somehow turned the perfectly legitimate long-form birth certificate of USA President Barack Obama into a forgery. Makes one wonder what sort of magic the green-suited little dude will put into the ham-handed paws of the Man-of-Honor next!

Yesterday, Coyoty reacted to my puzzlement at GT’s depiction of Trump’s hair: “Are you suggesting the caricature should be more realistic?”.No, I’m suggesting that GT look up the word “caricature” in the dictionary. Caricatures exaggerate and/or oversimplify existing features. Exhibit A: Jack Nicholson. Caricature does not invent new features, like Doones-Trump’s whirlwind hair, or a hypothetical sketch of a lantern-jawed Woody Allen..GT’s fixation on a nonexistent hairstyle is just strange. It’s not like Trump’s ego doesn’t give him enough ammo to work with.

It’s still funny. I for one laugh with a better conscience knowing it isn’t true. By the way Henderson, let us know when your superior knowledge of caricatures leads to launching your own strip.

GT has to get a lot of credit. It is exceedingly rare, given the lead time to produce the strip, that he isn’t right on the money. Perhaps others with a better memory than I, can recall a story line that was also usurped by reality, but this is the first one I can think of.

Regarding Palin: There are so many millions of people who are better qualified to be President than she is . . . how could she entertain that idea even for a nanosecond? Alaskans must be staggeringly dull witted actually to have wanted her to be governor. I guess that’s the answer to my first question, isn’t it?

Regarding Trump: There are so many millions of people . . .

GT believes talk is free as long as nobody tells the truth about those who rule by apartheid

@Thirdguy, I can’t think of another one that was quite this off, but back during the days of the Iranian hostage crisis (late 70s), he actually pulled some strips rather than let them run counterfactually.

Yesterday I replied to comments regarding President Obama’s paternity and the authenticity of the birth certificate. I stated that the President mostly closely resembles his maternal grandfather, whose name I misspelled; it is Stanley Dunham, not Durham.

Interesting! Today (Dec. 16, 2011) the St. Petersburg Times is showing a rerun of the time Jeff and Zipper were texting each other in a coffee shop. Is the Times heading off the Trump segment because it is out of date?

A year after their victory at the ballot box, the Teapartiers have faded. Even Sarah Palin realizes (though DT may not) that her faction has dispersed: it’s no longer recognized, even by Faux News.A viable political movement has got to persuade its followers that its aims are good for the country as a whole—-for “real Americans,” as the Tea Party likes to say. Once it is unmasked as a self-interested faction, it loses its viability as a political movement.Because they have genuinely national aims, the major parties are too large to be dismissed as factions, no matter how partisan they become. A minor party like Ron Paul’s libertarians can stay alive only by persuading its followers that it transcends factional self-interest.And then there are those other factions (e.g. Wall Street) who, ashamed to present themselves as a political party, wrap their factional self-interest in the flag of a national party.

Re Trump: He DOES have “shifty eyes” in real life. Re Ron Paul: I agree, except I would add that the “ultra-rich non-taxed corporations” don’t like Paul’s stance on getting our troops the health out of so many foreign countries. The Teapartiers don’t like that about him either.

Trudeau has had trouble synchronizing his strip to real time the past couple of weeks, but it’s not his fault when events turn around in days. He looks smart skipping Cain. It’ll be great when things settle down and he can focus on Gingrich.

He could get the whole gang involved. Zonker could start to become politically active when the Feds close his local cannabis dispensaries and then have him hook up with the Ron Paul campaign. At some point, paths could intersect with Joanie and Elizabeth Warren’s campaign, Duke and Gingrich’s campaign, Rick, Roland, Mark & RR.

It stuff like this that Doonesbury was made for. Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s another Pulitzer in this years election, and the comment board would light up like never before. It would be huge!

Don’t be too sure that GT is off base here — this pack of idiots keeps resurfacing as fast as they withdraw. Look at Newty — given up for dead in the water, now he’s at the top of the heap. Who can keep up.
